It is the best time of the year for cricket enthusiasts as ICC World Cup is back, yet again with its 12th edition being hosted by England and Wales from 30 May to 14 July 2019. England is hosting World Cup for the fourth time, last time being 20 years ago, when Australia beat Pakistan in 1999 final.

PRIZE MONEY

The International Cricket Council declared a total prize money pool of US $10 million for the tournament, the same as the 2015 edition. The prize money was distributed according to the performance of the team as follows:

All of the things that we should be surprised about the World Cup this year are:-

 Zimbabwe Will Miss The Tournament First Time In 36 Years.

Zimbabwe was never a winner of the tournament but it was a tough competitor in the old days. However, now the team does not play that much of great cricket so they failed to qualify this time. This is the first time since 1983 in 36 years that Zimbabwe will miss the Cricket World Cup tournament.

West Indies Had To Win The Qualifiers.

The World Cup tournament hosts England and World’s top seven other cricket team automatically qualified for the World Cup. However, the rest of the teams had to go through qualifiers to get a place in the world cup. This year, West Indies was not in top 7 so they have to go through the qualifiers for Cricket World Cup tournament.

This year World Cup, you will enjoy the commentary by a great Australian team batsman who has helped the team win multiple World Cups, THE GREAT ‘Michael Clarke’. He will make his debut in this World Cup as a commentator along with several other ex-players such as Brett lee, Shoaib akhtar, Virendra Sehwag.

Sad goodbyes this year!

This year sadly there are predictions made that great players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni from Indian team who is the ex-captain of Indian team and a great batsman as well as wicketkeeper, Dale Steyn of South Africa famous for his fastest bowling in the World, Chris Gayle from West Indies famous for his blasting batting, Ross Taylor of New Zealand who is a good batsman and Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka famous for his bowling skills and wicket taking ability.

100 days trophy tour!

This year trophy shall travel to the highest number of nations and will travel for 100 days which is highest days of tour ever documented till date. The countries from which it will travel from are Oman, The USA, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany before it will arrive to its destination which is England & Wales on 19th February 2019.

This year began with so much craze with releasing of the last season of Game of Thrones and Avengers Endgame, But nothing compares to the excitement and buzz of World Cup. And like every Indian out there, I am pretty sure you are holding your breathe for India vs Pakistan to happen on 16th June. Let us just enjoy the madness of this cricket season and hold our hopes that our Indian team wins the World Cup.
