“Beyounce Sharma Jayegi” of Khaali Peeli is the latest example of how Bollywood endorse the idea of racism. There is a never-ending obsession of Bollywood with the words ‘Goriyan’ or ‘Gora’. “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein” or “Chittiyan Kalayian” and many more are examples for the same.

There is no doubt about why the song is in controversies since its release. It is also one of the most disliked videos on Youtube for the year 2020. The lyric of the song says, “Tujhe Dekh k Goriyan, beyounce Sharma jayegi”, no wonder why a superbly talented American Singer needs to be addressed as a part of racism here.

People took over twitter just after few minutes of song release to stand against the yet again racism of Bollywood.

While campaigns like “Black lives matter” are gaining its momentum in a fight against racism, Bollywood still feels it’s justifiable to come up with lyrics that attack the human race based on their color. The concept of colorism is not new to society, but people are trying to get over it. To which Bollywood has made it all the more difficult for people to accept their original selves.

How long racism going on in Bollywood:

Movies like Bala, Gully Boy, or Super 30 showcases irony. On one hand, these movies promote fight against racism or any injustice done to people whereas on the other hand instead of letting the role played by the already beautiful dark-skinned person they make their actors go darker with their skin tone by applying makeup.

Bollywood’s sheer obsession with endorsing light skin color and normalizing racism has only increased in all these years. Though the audience is getting familiar with these tactics of racism and calling Bollywood out in public for their actions, there is still a long way to go.
