MEN AND GOSSIPING!

 

Did you really think that gossiping was exclusive to the ladies?  This article is going to puncture your “Gender stereotype thought” balloon in the most funny way!!

Yes, Your Honor! Men ARE guilty of gossiping.

Men gossip about anything and everything. Though, men and women dish dirt differently, i.e. their topics differ from that of women, as a matter of fact they do not get clingy with the same topic for long, unlike women. No offence ladies! What makes this whole thing even more interesting is the fact that they have absolutely no freaking clue that they are such huge gossipers. Crazy, right!?

Researchers revealed that contrary to the common stereotype which suggests women gossip, it seems men are actually the first to spill someone’s secret.

You know how everyone is aware that men have this “Locker room guy talk” phenomenon (not necessarily happening in locker rooms!), but no one is sure what this facade is about? Well, let me tell you! Locker room guy talk is not just boasting about one’s sexual conquests, escapades, and strategies. From news to workplace, bosses, friends, salary, from promotion to family, females, sexual relationships and future plans, men talk about everything. A bigger chunk of it is GOSSIPING about anything and everything!! Here are some facts served:

• Men spend three hours every day gossiping.
• 17% of husbands prefer to pillow talk with their partners.
• 33% of men feel happy talking about workmates.
• 31% of men feel that chatting with partners is more important than sexual connect.

Let me give you some examples of THE TOPICS men gossip about in general.

1. THAT HOT CHICK AT WORK…

Men being MEN notice women around them and their observations would totally go waste if they keep it to themselves. Hence, they gossip about that particular “Hot chick at work”. 

“She totally has a great figure…”,   “I saw her looking my way today..”,  “He was telling me about that chick..she……” etc etc!

You really do not want to know what else they can say in this matter, might get offending for few. 

2. THE “FALLEN HARD FOR SOME GIRL” GUY OF THE GROUP!

That guy of the group that is totally whipped in love is the best topic for gossiping right? 

“That ass is gone for shopping with his girl..”   “He is whipped…and fallen so hard in love that he probably has lost his senses..”,   “If he missed another guys night out, i’m gonna punch him”,   “Let’s disown him from the crew”   “Joru ka gulaam”,   “Apni bandi ka hoke reh gaya hai bas”  

3. HOW CHEAP SOMEONE IS..

One of the topics that men gossip about is that kanjoos person, they do not like hanging out with but have to. Every group of friends have this one specific person that avoids paying as much as possible. Everyone HATES that guy!!

“He eats so much but when it comes to paying he either leaves or pretends that he did not see the bill coming”,  “Kitna kanjoos hai yaar vo, maine hi pay krdia sara bill bas” ,  “Paise dene mai to maut padti hai usse”

4. THE LEGENDARY EX GIRLFRIENDS..

Just like women, men too gossip about their exes. The best “gossip about ex” session is right after the breakup. He would spill out everything offensive his ex told about anybody specially about the person that he is gossiping to. Trust me it’s really entertaining to hear all the stuff they have to gossip. He would swear a lot and lash out plenty of curses, telling you about what all he did for her. 

Nobody is anymore of a better gossiper than a scorned man, burnt from a fresh breakup.  

“Uske liye itna kia, ye kia, vo kia..blah blah”,   “She used to tell me this about XYZ…”,  “She was so bad at……..”,   “She used to do this thing…..and I hated that…”

5. POINTING OUT THE LIARS AND THEIR LIES..

Some men gossip thinking it is their social responsibility to spread awareness about the liars around and their lies. They put their knowledge and findings to best use and pinpoint the lies told about certain people and proving it.

” I saw him that day at the mall and he told us that he was sick just to avoid hanging out..”,   “He is NOT dating her..its just a lie because she is dating XYZ..“

6. GOSSIPING ABOUT THE MALFUNCTIONING RELATIONSHIP..

All of us remember Rajat’s ( Kartik Aryan from Pyaar ka Punchnama) infamous monologue about his girlfriend, starting with “Problem kya hai…”. Not all men like to gossip about their partners when they are in a happy and satisfying relationship (unlike females obvio!) but once it gets sticky to handle, they need somebody to hear them banter about their partner, hence they end up gossiping.

7. SPORTS!!

 

 

Just like women tend to gossip about Bollywood or the narcissistic neighbours, one of the men’s favourite topics to gossip about is- SPORTS!!! Men gossiping about sports is just like the match highlights that we see after the game gets over, the only difference being lack of formal and decent language. Their obsession with sports is not unknown to the ladies!

Don’t let anyone tell you that gossiping is a homosexual trait and/or trait associated with women cause I was just reminded how much straight men GOS-SIP bitch. Just cause and to no personal benefit ?

Trust me when I say that above given are just a handful of a bucket full of topics, men gossip about. Gender stereotypes conveniently suggest women to be on the top of the gossip chain as the massive gossip producer but it is the modern man giving them run for their money.

This truth about men gossiping is not very hidden after all, remember that show “Gossip Girl” ? That was not really a girl, you know that right? 

Studies and observations show that if you want to keep a secret- “Don’t trust a man with it”.
