Celebrating birth anniversary of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan: the legendary artist. On 13th October 2020, it’s Ustad’s 72nd birth anniversary.

Nusrat Khan was a Pakistani singer, his qawaalis are world-famous even today. He was also a songwriter.

He was perceived as the “King of Qawwalis.” For those who don’t know the meaning of qawwali, it’s a form of Muslim devotional music, which is prominent in South Asia.

Nusrat Sahab gave qawwali a sheer of popularity. His qawwali’s tickle like meditation to ears and mind. Simple melodies, intense music, lyrics are interwoven to symbolize pain, love, devotion is what his qawaalis was made up of.

He had the greatest voice and no other Nusrat Khan will ever be created. He is also known as Shahenshah-e-Qawwali (the king of kings of Qawwalis).

Though a thousand of pirated versions of his ghazals and qawaalis are recorded, his level remains untouched and beyond comparison.

You might have heard “Dil galti kar betha hai” a lot in 2020 on the internet. This masterpiece was created by none other than Nusrat Sahab himself. A lot of artists have created different versions, but none can be matched with the original one.

2. Sochta hoon:

Sochta hoon was originally performed by Nusrat Khan in 1985, However, his nephew Rahat khan popularised the song many times, lastly, this song was featured in the Bollywood movie, “Batti Ghul meter chalu” voice by Atif Aslam.

 

3. Mere rashke Qamar:

Mere rashke Qamar was written by Fana Buland Shehri, performed by Nusrat Khan. The song was popularised after the version by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Nusrat Khan was released in the movie badshaaho.

4. Kiven mukde ton nazaran hatwaan:

Birth anniversary of Khan Sahab

Another masterpiece by Nusrat Khan, it’s a beautiful love song, the meaning of the title is kiven mukhre ton nazraan hatwan meaning “How can I take off my eyes from your luminous face?”

Ke Tere Kol Rab disda meaning “Because I see my Creator through you.”

Indeed a lovely song.

5. Yeh jo Halka Halka by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan :

Best of Ustad

Yet another lovely composition by Khan Sahab.

It was recreated by Sunidhi Chauhan and Divya Kumar, in the movie Fanney khan.

6. Afreen Afreen by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan:

We all listened to this song on loop sang by Momina Mustehsan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on coke studio Pakistan,

The original version was composed by Nusrat Khan, it gives goosebumps every time you listen to the original version.

7. Nit Khair manga by  Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan:

Nit Khair manga a brilliant piece by Nusrat Khan, simple melodies in his soulful voice made the qawaali even more breathtaking. The song was featured in the movie raid, sang by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

8. Sanu ik pal chain na aave by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan:

9. Sanware tore bin by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan:

Khan Sahab was the one who could make us feel heaven, this song is one of the most difficult on chords yet another gem. Such a piece of deep invading music.

10. Tere bin by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan:
