Why a Hair Makeover is an awesome idea in lock-down

We had high expectations from the new decade. So far, 2020 looks like the answer to the question ‘How bad can it get?’ January started going downhill and now you’re stuck in your house, rotating through the same three pajamas and the same three apps on your phone. You want to avoid driving your spouse/roommate/parents/pet/your-FBI-agent-spying-on-you completely insane by your constant groans of boredom, but don’t know how to stop. That is, until your years of watching 90s cliché movies finally come in handy and you realize the solution to everything wrong in your life is hair transformation! Now before you lose that courage and backout, Read these 5 reasons Why a hair makeover is an awesome idea in lock-down!

  • Brad Mondo – the amazing hairdresser on YouTube, has blessed us with a complete tutorial!

The most obvious reason to avoid this drastic step would be that you’re not a professional, which increases your chances of ending up on a ‘Hairdresser reacts to epic fails’ video. But, that hairdresser knows what you’re about to do, and like a classic “If you’re gonna drink, better do it safely in the house” mom, he released a Haircutting as well as a Hair Colouring tutorial for you to follow at home and not ruin your hair completely. So if you’re serious about this hair makeover, better check these videos out first!

  • Something new to try out in these lazy times:

Now I’m not saying you’ll become a professional with this one experimental and impulsive hair transformation, but you’ll definitely learn a lot about these skills. And if the outcome is not half-bad, you could continue to cut/colour/style your own hair even when you’re not legally mandated to avoid awkward (or any) conversations with your stylists at the salon. Minimalists often cut their own hair to save money and because they enjoy doing it. Here’s another tutorial by ‘Pick Up Limes’ for some more guidance:

  • Who gonna judge you?hair makeover - don't judge me

One of the most common reasons why people are skeptical about trying out new things is the fear of judgement. Anxiety doesn’t really discriminate to decide who judges you – apparently, pretty much everyone has the right to judge you. (Anxiety really is a bitch, isn’t it?) BUT, Loophole alert! Lockdown doesn’t allow you to interact with outside people, so who gonna judge you? Your cat? Well yes, but you feed that asshole, so his opinion doesn’t really matter. On the other hand, if you do live with other humans, the potential self-appointed judge pool still remains pretty small. And if they are kind people, maybe you could even ask for their help with this project.

  • Your hair, Your opinion.

hair makeover - my hair, my choice.

Another annoying side-effect of unsolicited judgment is that all those comments often tend to re-paint our own opinion on that topic. So even if you do a mediocre job at this but are thrilled at the results, one hurtful taunt could potentially change your entire outlook on your new hair. (Anxiety really is a bitch). But COVID-19, again, brings you a thin silver lining – no one’s there to see you. You get time to form your own observations and thoughts about this makeover with no new opinions to influence yours. Remember – This is your hair, only your opinion about it matters.

  • If things go south, no one will find out! no one will ever know if you mess up

We are really pressing on the ‘no one will find out’ aspect but understand the possibilities! Yes, things could go wrong, but if they do, who’s going to find out? That’s right, absolutely no one! There will always be a million reasons to not take a risk, but when will you ever have an opportunity like this again?

Don’t waste this golden chance by thinking about the what-ifs; go watch some more tutorials, give yourself a pep talk and just do it! We are already living in a dystopian reality, might as well follow your heart and do what you want. Comment below and let us know if you’re going to get yourself a hair makeover!
