Stress is familiar, so familiar that according to 2019 reports, more than 80% of people in India are Stressed. Not a shocker at all, right? It is becoming a close pal, every day everywhere tagging along. Eventually harming our body, not so best bud. Stress is our bodily reaction to threat or high demanding situations.  The human body is designed in a way to counter a certain amount of stress. It helps in daily tasks, like meeting a deadline. But prolonged stress without a sigh of relief can have damaging effects on the body. Generally called Overstressing, excessive stress can hinder with daily lifestyle. It mostly can affect you emotionally, physically and mentally. So it is crucial to know that you are overstressing or not. Being ignorant can only lead to further issues. So, here are a few signs that you are Overstressed.

Physical Signs:

Headaches

If you are having frequent headaches, you must consider your stress level because most likely you are Overstressed. One of the earliest signs that you are overstressed is a headache. Stress causes tension that leads to pain.

Changes in Appetite

Appetite drastically changes. Either you eat too much or not enough, this could be because you are overstressed. Stress eating isn’t just real, but very much an indication that you need to calm down.

Insomnia

A night of good sleep is only a dream when you are overstressed. Bad routines are one thing, but all that worrying also keeps you awake. 

Heart palpitations

Palpitation is racing or pounding heartbeats. If you have palpitations even without any specific reason like physical activity or emotional excitement then it’s stress.

Frequent sickness

Experiencing fever, runny nose, cold and throat infections are common. But if you are falling sick frequently that means your body is exhausted. Stress is physically and mentally straining.

Acne

Yes, stress can give you acne. This is one way your body tells you that you need to relax.

 

Digestive Problems

Nausea, Constipation and Diarrhea can be caused by stress or you know Last night’s salad.

Fatigue or muscle/joint pain

Being tired all the time and those unexplained pains are signs that you are overstressed.

Loss of Sex Drive

Stress can also cause erectile dysfunction, impotence and other issues for men. And the loss of sex drive for all genders.

Anxiety

Having nervousness all the time.

Being Moody

Feeling agitated, frustrated, disoriented, low self-esteem and sudden changes in mood. These are signs that you are overstressed.

 

Forgetful

Not able to remember the small things, or having trouble with short term memory can be because of stress. Other related issues like absent-mindedness as well.

 

Procrastination.

Putting things on hold or pushing deadlines, not having the energy or willingness to get things done. Overstress Alert!!

 

Overthinking/ Racing thoughts

Overthinking about an unimportant thing and having too many thoughts can be because of the stress.

 

Isolation

Not wanting to meet people or being alone all the time is one cause of stress as well as an effect of it.

Bad Focus

Not being able to concentrate towards anything, or having trouble giving you absolute attention to important work can be a sign of Overstressing.

You are what you eat. So having a diet full of nutrients is important. Good food makes you feel good, your body is happy when it gets the good stuff.

 

Connect with people

Stay connected to people you love, the people who care for you. hang ou with friends more, give time to your family, find fun group activities to do, be part of a community. Humans need to be part of a community or social environments, it keeps us happy.

 

Meditate

Meditating helps in every way especially relieving stress. People always have been advising this ancient Indian technique.
