Khoobsurat (2014) is a film of actors Sonam Kapoor Ahuja (Milli) and Fawad Khan (Vikram) where Kiron Kher and Kaizaad Kotwal as Milli’s parents done a fantastic job. He lets her study and he motivates her, never loose faith on her. Additionally, there are parents who don’t even let their daughters study in their own village. 7. Paresh Rawal & Manisha Koirala In Sanju

Without Sanju, how can we end the list of times when on screen bollywood parents were goals. This is the biography of Sanjay Dutt and his parents on screen gave us goals. Moreover, what role Sunil  Dutt and Nargis played in Sanjay Dutt’s life is actually what we want. The parents who don’t let you sink even in the flood of unfortunates. Even in the darkest of times, Sunil Dutt helped out Sanjay Dutt with different relaxing remedies like remembering the iconic songs, holding him whenever he falls.

Parents – child relationships are very crucial and it demands to be pure, and not only pure but it asks parents to be kind and understandable enough towards their children and vice versa. There are thousands of times when on screen parents were goals, they actually portrayed the needs of a child that he expect from his parents. Above, these are few films that can actually make you crave for having such family or parents if you don’t have this kind of relationship. In additional, watch Chhichhore, Secret Superstar and Neerja.

Times On Screen Bollywood Parents Were An Existential Nightmare

1. Ronit Roy In Udaan

And there are times when on screen bollywood parents were no less than a nightmare. In fact, bollywood has given us a film like Udaan in which a father is not an idol personality at all. All he used to do is beating, abusing, harassing his children, even controlling. That was horrible! like a true nightmare that we would never want to watch.

2. Reuben Israel In Highway

Veera Tripathi (Alia Bhatt) along with Mahabir Bhati (Randeep Hooda) has shown us a real traumatized family or parents. Further, their parents keeps ignoring their child’s mental health, they never cared about how their children are feeling about their deeds. Veera Tripathi has to face sexual harassment in her childhood and what her parents did was just ignoring the facts. This Imtiaz Ali directed film offered us a life of two different social status people but with the same tormenting parenthood.

3. Atul Kale & Aban Bharucha In Dear Zindagi

Abandoning your child is the worst thing that you can ever do to them. And that is what we see in this film. Here, Kaira (Alia Bhatt) experienced a kind of loneliness from her parents side, which provokes her to find love outside the family and eventually it becomes ugly for her. Sometimes, highly ambitious people turned out to be bad parents. They didn’t give Kaira a memory from her childhood that she can cherish for her whole life. Keeping your child away from yourself just because of their bad academics result is generally lead to the path of hatred.

4. Vipin Sharma In Taare Zameen Par

And how can we forget Mr. Nandkishore Awasthi if we are talking about on screen bollywood parents who are like an existential nightmare. Just like the film Udaan, here also Nandkishore Awasthi abuses his child, Ishaan but in a different way. Mr. Awasthi keeps on comparing his both children without understanding the strengths of both. He believes that his child is “Badtameez”and he makes excuses for not studying. And Thank god! Aamir Khan made things better for both father and child. But, until he shows up, Mr. Awasthi was a nightmare.

5. Boman Irani &  Parikshit Sahni In 3 Idiots

So, here comes one of the blockbuster film of Raj Kumar Hirani with lot of lessons and introducing the reality of life, society and parents to us. How parents generally thinks, how they try to manipulate us etc. For instance, how Farhan’s parents reacts whenever they get to know about his talent in the field of photography and complaints towards his academics was not so cool and we don’t want such parents at all. Additionally, in the film, we got to know that pressure from Parents is something that not everyone can handle, and the same thing happens to Boman Irani’s son who killed himself. Importantly, there are many other scenes in the film which clearly gives us a kind of caution that “We don’t want such parents, who don’t understand us, who imposes their thoughts on us”.

6. Anil Kapoor & Shefali Shah In Dil Dhadakne Do

This is a must watch film. Mr. and Mrs. Mehra who creates a pseudo happy family relationship in public, but in  private, they were just dragging their relationship. Which habitually affects their children’s lives. They never understand Ayesha, be it her married life or her career, they were just so hypocrite and typical brown parents which made us feel like this is a nightmare. Because, obviously, first, we would never want out parents to drag their relationship and pretend like they are happy. Secondly, why parents don’t get that ‘Feelings Do Matter’. Sad, but true.

7. Dalip Sondhi In Half Grilfriend

How Riya Somani explains her relationship between her mother and father and her relation with her parents were no less than a nightmare. As her father used to beat her mother and were never able to provide a happy family to Riya is heart wrenching. For every child, it is important to have a good environment in family, but Riya never experienced it, so she finds her peace in her music.

These are some bollywood films that portrays really malice children-parent relationship which made us believe that not everyone has parents like us. There are times when on screen bollywood parents are like goals but just like any other thing, here is also contradictory part which made us believe that bollywood parents can not be always as goals, they can be a nightmare too.
