Staying hydrated is very important, but sipping water the whole day long makes no sense. Excessive consumption of water dilutes the sodium and other electrolytes present in one’s body which leads to water intoxication or Hyponatremia( a condition in which sodium level is very low. Overhydration also leads to swelling of cells and is very dangerous when it comes to brain cells. One should drink water whenever she or he is thirsty. Therefore one should drink an adequate amount of water so that they can have all the benefits of this miraculous drink.

Water for sure is very important for the digestion process. But consuming water instantly after the meals leads to the rotting of food inside the stomach.
When we consume food, the temperature of the body is comparatively high, for better digestion. When we drink water immediately after having food, the water lowers the temperature of the body, resulting in indigestion and bloating. One should drink water 30-45 mins after the meal.

 

  • Water is the only source of hydration

Water is the most economic and important fluids. It provides us hydration. But water is not the only source for hydration. Many fruits with higher water content also provide hydration to the body, for example, melons, strawberries, pineapples, cucumbers, oranges etc. Juices also provide hydration.
Even coffee and tea also count.
Though fruits, juices, tea, etc provide hydration. But water remains on the first as its the mains source.

Though cold water is very satisfying. But has more harm than good. Coldwater causes sore throat and results in the shrinking of the blood vessels. It also restricts digestion, hence hindering the natural food absorption process. It also results in joint pains and increases the risk of heart diseases.
Water is good at room temperature or even better when lukewarm.
But if one still wants cool water, earthen pots or matkas work wonders. They are natural water coolers and also clean the water.

 

  • One should not drink water after exercise

Though gulping much quantity of water after exercise is bad for health. But sipping an adequate amount of water after exercises replenish the fluids lost. During exercise, one sweats and gets dehydrated an adequate amount of water fulfills the need.

 

  • Yellow urine is a sign of dehydration

Urine has a yellow pigment called urobilin or urochrome. The darker colour of urine is a sign of degradation as it is more concentrated. But it is also a result of more toxic circulating in one’s body.
Till the colour of urine is yellow, one need not worry about it.

Well, staying hydrated brings a glow to the skin. But drinking water alone does not brings a glow to the skin. Factors such as what a person eats, skin and cosmetic products used by the person also are responsible for the health and texture of the skin. Water is not the sole reason for glowing skin.
