Snapchat vs Instagram, well that’s a tough call. Instagram has 1 Billion MAUs and Snapchat has 186 Million MAUs. With numbers SO big, no wonder you are stuck reading the comparison between the two.

To put you out of your misery, we established the difference between the two on the following important basis.

EMPHASIS:- While Instagram has an emphasis on photos and videos, Snapchat largely focuses on messaging and chatting. Yes, it’s true that Instagram provides you with messaging feature too but Instagram’s world usually revolves around its uploading part. Not to be offensive in any way but there were some speculations that Snapchat was founded to enable sexting. Thankfully, founder Evan Spiegel denies this.

BUSINESS POINT OF VIEW:- Instagram is known to help any business flourish its online presence better in so many ways possible than Snapchat. With an option to create a business profile and not to forget its Ad platforms integrated with Facebook making campaigns so much more simpler. You can even save responses to the questions you are asked most often. On the other hand, Snapchat can really help you in making your online presence by only allowing you to post snap stories. These stories last for only 24 hours. by sending snaps to your added friends which by all means will last a couple of seconds and then vanish into thin air just like that.

WHO COPIED WHO:- Well, when you have so many competitors to beat to win in a race then you have two options. Either to offer public something that they have not witnessed before or to present the same exact thing like that of your competitor but better. Instagram somewhat went for the second one. Last year, Instagram launched a near identical version of one of the Snapchat’s few main features aka STORIES. Clever right? The thing that makes it better is the fact that stories in Instagram appear right at the top of the home page rather than you having to swipe left to watch them like that in Snapchat. But the downside of the story features, unlike Snapchat, in Instagram is that the stories autoplay. There may be some people whose stories we do not want to see. Well, Instagram really does not help with that right? Thanks but no thanks Instagram!! Well, this did not end here..besides the stories feature, Instagram cloned other things too. It added face filters, location tags, a huge variety of stickers and GIFs. How can we ever forget the photo messages that disappear as snaps do?

DEMOGRAPHICS:- while Instagram is the new Facebook of today with so many users of different age groups and categories, there is a fair chance that you heard about Snapchat from some 14-15-year-old teen who has a somewhat different outlook of being social. So, not only Instagram is popular amongst the teens but also the elder generation which gives it an advantage over Snapchat. Also, it’s a common belief that Snapchat is somewhat complicated to use than Instagram. I mean you really should know that you are not supposed to take screenshots of other people’s snap. Trust me its embarrassing. Been there. Done that!

IDENTITY CRISIS:- This is a bigger problem than you think it is. How are you to identify somebody by some bitmoji or a username that can be almost identical to someone else’s? On Instagram at least you get to see the profile picture, a little more information than just a username. Well, to be fair it isn’t any shock if you say that Instagram gets this one.

DISAPPEARING FOLLOWERS:- When you use Instagram, you find your followers mysteriously reducing in numbers at any random moment. To be clear, there isn’t any spooky conspiracy behind your followers reducing, it’s just that they UNFOLLOWED you. There is this silent war going on since forever on Instagram to have more followers than the following which are surreal. Thankfully, on Snapchat there’s no such craziness going on. So, one point for Snapchat.

ENTERTAINMENT:- Clearly, you must have discovered that much by now that Instagram gives you so many things to go through than Snapchat. Like if you are done with going through everybody’s stories and stalking other people, then you can click the magnifying glass below the homepage.
