3. The oldest whisky is 150 years old.

The 400ml bottle of Glenavon Special Liqueur Whisky holds the Guinness World Record for being the World’s Oldest Whisky. Interestingly, there is rumor that the whisky was packaged in between 1851 and 1858. And, importantly, was owned by an Irish family till it was auctioned off to Bonhams in London and fetched a staggering £14,850.

Macallan ‘M’ whisky is the most expensive in the world. A Lalique decanter of Macallan ‘M’ whisky was auctioned for £393,109 in Hong Kong and became the world’s most expensive make of this alcohol. In addition to this, the luxury decanter contains 6 litres of whisky drawn from Spanish oak sherry casks dating from the 1940s to the 1990s.

5. Do you know what does word ‘Whiskey’ means ?

Whisky comes from the Classical Gaelic word uisce (or uisge) meaning “water” (now written as uisce in Modern Irish, and uisge in Scottish Gaelic). Hence, Distilled alcohol in Latin is aqua vitae (“water of life”).

10. Man spends Sh4.3m on ‘giant whiskey bottle’ coffin.

Anto Wickham, a 48-year-old, has spent $50,000 (Sh4.3m) on a 10-foot casket shaped like a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey. Furthermore, after he witnesses the death of eight Army pals during the Iraq war. So, he begin to plan his own funeral – he wants it to be a celebration, rather than mourning.
